Wiener Linien U2xU5 Application

Wiener Linien is the main metropolitan transportation company of Vienna, Austria.  
With the upcoming growth of its transportation network with the new U2xU5 subway lines in Vienna one of the challenges was on how to communicate the information about the project, its benefits and the opportunities it brings to the people of Vienna and city visitors. One of such ways of communication was creating an interactive visual storytelling mobile application with augmented reality features.  

This was proven to provide a better understanding of the benefits of the upcoming metro transportation lines in the most engaging, interactive way. 
The application is used in the visitor centers and info points throughout the city. It is utilized as an additional guide during the project presentation. Additionally, any used with a mobile device that supports ARKit and ARCore technologies can freely download this application to their own devices and explore its possibilities. 
 
The application consists of:
 

• Info section, where users can read interesting facts about the history of the development of the subway transportation system and participate in an interactive Quiz
• 3D and AR section, where users can view the sections of the city where the new stations will be located, check multiple layers of the station, understand the underground connections and location of the platforms

The application was created in Unity, utilizing the ARFoundation approach. Both Android and iOS users can install it on their devices.
